So you have just bought a brand spanking new electric guitar, but not sure what amp to go for? Then look no further. Our guide will run you through the top five things to consider when it comes to buying a guitar amp.

Budget: First things first, you need to consider your budget. Amps vary dramatically in price from £50 right through to £5,000. Generally speaking, the more you spend, the more powerful the amp is going to be. If you are looking to use your amp at venues then consider splashing out more. Power: As mentioned in the budget section, you should also consider power when buying a guitar amp. An amps power is measured in wattage. Amps can range from 3-watts up to 500+ watts, the more wattage you have the louder your amp is going to be. If you are planning to use your amp at large venues then we recommend you go for an amp with at least 200 watts. Medium sized venues and small concerts require less power and practice amps even less.
